Cinco de Mayo vs. Mexican Independence Day
A frequent mistake is confusing Cinco de Mayo with Mexican Independence Day. They are two distinct historical events separated by more than 50 years.
Cinco de Mayo strictly remembers the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Mexican Independence Day, on the other hand, is celebrated on September 16. It marks the moment in 1810 when the call to arms known as the “Cry of Dolores” initiated the war for independence from Spain.

Bottle Bill would encourage recycling habits
State lawmakers are looking to put Mr. Trash Wheel on a diet by considering a bill that would add bottle deposits to single-serve containers. Consumers who return the bottles would get that money back. Supporters hope the bill will serve as an incentive to recycle so that fewer bottles end up in our waterways. Bottle Bill Info
